While it converts

The seven stages

Every Framework Converter run goes through the same stages, shown as a row of chips at the top. The current one spins, finished ones get a check.

• Reading the resource

  Finds the framework, every construct and the names other resources use.

• Deciding what changes

  Writes the plan, including a decision for everything with no equivalent.

• Rewriting files

  Converts the files, several at a time.

• Rebuilding the manifest

  Writes fxmanifest.lua for the target: dependencies, scripts, files.

• Checking the result

  Runs the six checks.

• Fixing what failed

  Rewrites the files a check failed on, then checks again. Shows skipped when the first pass was clean.

• Packaging

  Stores the result for the diff and the download.

The screenshots on this page come from converting esx_joblisting, the ESX job center, to Qbox. It took 35 seconds and cost 100 credits.

The live board

Under the stages, a status line shows what the converter is doing right now, for example Rewriting server/main.lua. On the right it counts:

• Files rewritten so far, out of all files to rewrite. The thin bar on top follows this number.
• Constructs found, counting each occurrence.
• Credits used so far. It updates after every step.
• Time since the run started.

What is being translated lists each construct with the old call and the new one, hardest first. Each row names the area, how often the construct occurs and its kind. Files below it shows every file with a spinner while it is rewritten.

A small resource takes about a minute. Large resources with hundreds of files take several minutes, since every file is rewritten and checked.

The transcript

The Transcript logs every step in order, next to the board on a wide screen and below it on a narrow one.

Typical lines:

• Identified as ESX Legacy (100% confidence) and Contract to preserve: 2 events, 2 callbacks at the start.
• No equivalent for: … with the decision, and Will need ox_lib for each new dependency.
• locales/en.lua becomes locales/en.json, because Qbox expects a different locale format. for each locale file.
• One line per file, Manifest rebuilt, then All checks passed or how many checks did not pass.
• Repair round 1 and Fixed … when the converter corrects its own first pass.

Leaving the page and stopping

A conversion runs on our servers, not in your browser. Close the tab and come back later: the resource shows the run where it is, or its result. Several tabs on the same run all show the same picture.

Stop at the top right cancels a run. A stopped or failed run is not charged the 100 credit minimum; you pay only for the steps it finished, and the rest of the hold goes back.
