Works with every vanilla animation, emote and weapon

FiveM Ped Creator

Your own character in game as an add-on ped, rigged and ready to spawn.

Upload a finished 3D character or start from one picture. The editor fits the GTA ped skeleton to it and plays it walking, sitting and dancing in the browser. Fix joints, height and textures with free previews, then build the resource once.

Needs an account · previews are free · 2,500 credits per build · drafts autosave

Two ways in

Both lead into the same editor and end in the same resource. The difference is who makes the 3D model: you, or the generator from your picture.

Bring a 3D character

2,500 credits

GLB, GLTF, VRM, FBX or OBJ, up to 200 MB. If the textures are separate files, put the model and its textures in one ZIP. Rigged or not, any proportions. When your file has a rig from Mixamo, Unreal or VRoid, the editor can take the fingers and the legs from it.

Start from a picture

3,750 to 5,000 credits with the build

One person, full body, front view, plain background, as PNG or JPG up to 20 MB. By default the picture is first redrawn with the arms away from the body, then turned into a 3D model in about two minutes. Pick Medium or High detail. From there it is the same editor with the same free previews.

Eight steps, one of them required

Only the source is required. The other seven are there for the characters that need them: a skirt, a tail, a helmet, a model that arrived at the wrong size. Every step stays open, in any order.

Step 1

Source

Upload the model or the picture and pick male or female. That choice sets the walk style, the voice and the ragdoll. It leaves the shape of your model alone.

Step 2

Fit and size

Set the height. Vanilla peds are about 1.80 m, and above 2.10 m the larger ragdoll is used. Turn a model that came in sideways, or lower it when a robe or a tail would leave the feet floating.

Step 3

Skeleton

Joints are found from the mesh. Drag one that sits in the wrong place, or mirror the good side onto the other. Fingers and 19 face bones are on by default.

Step 4

Skin weights

How the surface follows the bones. Human fits most characters. Creature keeps claws and animal faces as they are, and Loose clothing lets skirts and robes move with both legs.

Step 5

Parts

Head, upper body, legs and feet each get a triangle budget. Vanilla peds use about 15,000 in total, and a model made from a picture starts far above that.

Step 6

Attachments

Pin up to 16 rigid objects to one bone each: armour, a helmet, a backpack, a sword. They move with that bone and never bend.

Step 7

Materials

Texture size from 512 to 2048. Keep glass visors, see-through fabric and glowing eyes, or make every material solid like a vanilla ped.

Step 8

Name and build

Name the ped, check the ragdoll and the distance models, then build. The build gives you exactly what the last preview showed.

Free previews until it looks right

Each preview rigs your ped on our side, usually in 40 to 75 seconds, and costs nothing. You get 30 per draft and can keep editing while one runs. The preview plays 12 vanilla clips on your ped, and one view stands it next to the vanilla body so you see the size difference.

Problems show up there before you pay: a joint found in the wrong place, a skirt torn between the legs, feet floating above the ground.

What you download

One folder named after your ped. It installs like any other resource.

  • sws_mechanic/
  • fxmanifest.lua
  • peds.meta
  • client.lua/sws_mechanic command
  • README.txtinstall steps
  • stream/
  • sws_mechanic.yftskeleton, 128 bones, ragdoll
  • sws_mechanic.yddhead, body, legs, distance models
  • sws_mechanic.ytdtextures
  • sws_mechanic.ymtvariations

Install in three steps

  1. 1Extract the folder into your server's resources folder.
  2. 2Add ensure sws_mechanic to server.cfg and restart the server.
  3. 3Players reconnect once. Then /sws_mechanic switches your character to the ped.

The model name works anywhere a ped model is expected: SetPlayerModel, CreatePed and the ped menus of illenium-appearance and qb-clothing.

By default every build also comes with 22 pictures of the ped running, getting into a car, sitting, kicking and more, for your store page or your Discord.

Every player can use the spawn command. Delete client.lua or add a permission check if only staff should have it.

What it costs

Credits from the same balance as everything else here. The dollar column is what those credits cost on the Pro plan, $19.99 for 20,000.

Against the other ways to get a ped

A ped from a store or a commission is finished by someone who does this full time, and the last row says so. The Ped Creator is for the character you already have as a model or a picture, in game the same day.

Where it stops

The boundaries we know of, so you can judge your model before you upload it.

  • It makes an add-on ped, its own model next to the vanilla ones. Character creators, head blend and clothing shops only work on the two freemode peds, so they do not apply.
  • There is no cloth simulation. Loose clothing makes a skirt follow both legs, but a tight skirt can still show the knee when the ped runs.
  • Very tall characters whose hips sit above a vanilla ped's sink into the ground when they walk and run. The preview shows it before you build.
  • Long weapons can pass through a bulky body, because the game holds every weapon where it would on a vanilla ped.
  • Toon-shaded skin, as in VRoid exports, looks paler in game. GTA has no shader for that look.

FiveM ped creator FAQ

Previews are free. Building the ped from your own 3D model is 2,500 credits. Starting from a picture adds the 3D model step: 1,250 or 2,500 credits for Medium or High detail, so 3,750 to 5,000 credits in total. Credits are held when a job starts and only taken when it finishes.

GLB, GLTF, VRM, FBX or OBJ, up to 200 MB. If the textures are separate files, put the model and its textures in one ZIP. The model can be rigged or not, in any proportions, and stray helper objects are dropped on import. The guide for your own model covers exporting and preparing it.

One person, full body, front view, on a plain background, as PNG or JPG up to 20 MB. A cropped body or a busy background gives the generator less to work with, and the image editor can remove a background before you upload.

Arms held close to the body are the most common reason a generated character rigs badly. That is why the picture is redrawn with the arms apart before the 3D step, unless you turn it off.

Yes. The ped gets the GTA ped skeleton with 128 bones, so walking, driving, sitting, emotes and weapons use the game's own animations. You can watch 12 of them on your ped in the browser before you build. On a very bulky body, long weapons can pass through the arm or torso, because the game holds them where it would for a vanilla ped.

No. It is an add-on ped, its own model with its own name next to the vanilla ones. Character creators, head blend and clothing shops only work on the two freemode peds, so they do not apply. The model name works anywhere a ped model is expected, such as SetPlayerModel, CreatePed and the ped menus of illenium-appearance and qb-clothing.

A resource folder named after your ped: fxmanifest.lua, peds.meta, a client.lua and the model files (.yft, .ydd, .ytd and .ymt) with distance models and a ragdoll. Put it in your resources folder, add ensure with its name to server.cfg and restart. Players reconnect once. The install guide has the details.

The client.lua adds a chat command with the ped's name that switches you to it. Every player can use that command, so delete client.lua or add a permission check if only staff should have it.

The ped stays its own resource. The resource merger leaves peds out, because a ped registers itself through a peds.meta line in its own fxmanifest.

Rigging is where a ped goes wrong: a joint found in the wrong place, a skirt torn between the legs, feet floating above the ground. The preview shows that on the rigged ped before you pay anything. Each draft gets 30 free previews, and the build gives you exactly what the last preview showed.

There is an option that also packs the ped as a Story Mode DLC for GTA V Legacy, with install steps for OpenIV in the download. It is off by default, because FiveM is what the Ped Creator is built for.

Yes. The editor saves as you work, and every draft is listed under Saved drafts. A finished ped opens back in the editor from its result page, so a second version starts from the first one.

No. The editor runs in the browser and the game files are written on our side. You need a 3D model or a picture, and a FiveM server to install the result on.

Build your first add-on ped

Upload a model or a picture, preview it for free until it looks right, then build the resource. Drafts save as you go, so you can stop and come back.
