Approvals and checkpoints
Nothing happens without your yes. Every read, edit and command waits for Approve or Save, and every task can be rolled back.
The agent asks first
Everything the agent wants to do shows up in the chat as a request. It waits for your answer:
Read a file, list or search a folder
Buttons:Approve / DenyWhat happens:The agent reads it and continues.Edit or create a file
Buttons:Save / DenyWhat happens:The change opens as a diff first. Save writes it to disk.Run a terminal command
Buttons:Run / DenyWhat happens:The command runs in a terminal and the agent reads the output.Ask you a question
Buttons:Suggested answersWhat happens:Click one or type your own answer.
- 1. SwisserAI wants to ...: what the agent wants to do
- 2. Approve
- 3. Deny
Deny stops only that step. Then type what you want instead, for example "only change config.lua". The agent continues from there.
The diff editor of an edit is editable. Change the green side before you click Save and your version is what gets written.
Auto-approve
Clicking Approve for every file gets slow on bigger tasks. Auto-approve lets chosen actions run without asking. It is off by default: the button under the task box says Auto-approve off.
- 1. Enabled: master switch, off by default
- 2. Read: safe to turn on
- 3. Write: edits files without asking
- 4. Execute: runs terminal commands without asking
- Enabled at the bottom is the main switch. The other switches stay grey until it is on.
- Read is safe to turn on. The agent can look at files in your open folder without asking.
- Write lets it save edits without showing you the diff first. Turn it on only with checkpoints or Git as a safety net.
- Execute runs terminal commands without asking. In the settings under Auto-Approve you choose which commands are allowed.
- Mode, Subtasks and Question let it switch modes, start subtasks and pick its own first suggested answer.
Careful on a live server
With Write and Execute on, the agent can change and run anything in the open folder. On a server that players use, keep both off, or open only the one resource you work on.
Checkpoints
Before the agent edits files, the extension saves a Checkpoint: a snapshot of your open folder. Checkpoints appear as lines in the chat.
- Restore Changes at the end of a task puts the files back to how they were at your last message.
- The menu of a checkpoint line offers View Diff, Restore Files and Restore Files & Task, which also deletes the chat after that point.
- Restoring cannot be undone, so look at the diff first.
- 1. Task Completed: what the agent changed
- 2. Restore Changes: undo everything from this task
- 3. Start New Task
No checkpoints?
Checkpoints need Git installed on your computer. They do not change your own Git history; the extension keeps them separately. They can be turned off in the settings under Checkpoints.
Keep files away from the agent
A file named .swisseraiignore in the top of your open folder hides files from the agent completely. It cannot read or change them. It uses the same patterns as .gitignore. A good start for a FiveM server:
# passwords and license keys
server.cfg
*.env
# big folders the agent never needs
cache/
alpine/
*.ytd
*.ydr
*.yft
*.ybn
*.ymapserver.cfg holds your license key and database password on most servers. If you want the agent to edit it, copy the secret lines into a separate file first and load it with exec secrets.cfg. Then ignore that file instead.
