Troubleshooting

Most problems come from the prompt, the wrong mode for the job, or the balance. Start at the top.

The image failed

A failed Images job shows Generation failed or Edit failed on its result page. You are not charged; the reserved credits go back to your balance.

  • The prompt is not a picture. Questions, code requests or chat messages get no image. Describe what the picture shows.
  • A one-off hiccup. Start the same prompt again. The prompt is on the result page with a copy button.

The edit was declined

Edits pass a safety filter. When it declines one, the result page says:

The safety filter declined this edit. Try rewording the request or use a different image. No credits were charged.

Reword the request without names of real people or brands, or start from a different picture.

Text is misspelled

Lettering is the hardest part of a generated picture. Two ways to get it right:

  • Generate with Premium, keep the text short and put it in quotes, for example: a sign that says "MOTORWORKS".
  • Fix it afterwards: Edit this image, quick start Replace text, and type the correct words. See Describing the change.

The background is not transparent

Generate image never makes a transparent background, even as a PNG. Asking for one in the prompt can give you a painted grey and white checkerboard instead.

Use Remove background under the result, or an edit with Transparent background switched on. The result page then lists Background: Transparent, and the checkerboard behind the picture is only the page showing the see-through parts.

The result ignores my picture

The reference image in Generate only guides the style and the composition, so the result is a new picture. To change your picture and keep the rest of it, use Edit image.

Not enough credits or too many at once

  • The dialog shows how many credits are missing for the chosen quality, with a Get credits button. A cheaper quality may still fit your balance.
  • Up to five images can be in progress at the same time. Start the next one when one has finished.
