Choosing a photo
The photo decides most of the result. One object, a plain background and a close shot give the cleanest model.
The three rules
The 3D Generator builds exactly what it sees in one picture, so the photo decides most of the result. The dialog lists three tips under the image; hover one to see a good and a bad example.
- 1. Image to 3D: generate from a picture
- 2. Click or drag an image here
- 3. What makes a great photo: hover a tip for an example
One object
The generator builds one thing. Several objects or a cluttered scene melt together into one lump.Clean background
A plain background shows where the object ends. A busy one turns into bumps and floating pieces.Fills the frame
More pixels on the object give more detail in the model. A small object in a wide shot comes out soft.
A product photo on white, as online shops use, is the ideal source.
Sides the photo does not show
The 3D Generator only has one picture, so it guesses the back and the underside of the object. Simple, symmetric objects come out well from any angle. For everything else, a three-quarter view from slightly above shows the front, one side and the top at once, which gives the generator the most to work with.
Good to know
If the back matters, as with a sign that has text on both sides, check it in the editor and repaint it there if needed.
What to avoid
- Several objects in one picture, or an object someone is holding.
- Hard shadows and reflections, which end up painted onto the texture.
- Cut-off edges. The whole object should be in the picture.
- Small text and logos. They get soft on a game texture; large, simple markings hold up better.
File types and making a picture first
The dialog takes PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF and most other image files and converts them for you. There is no text prompt in the 3D Generator itself.
Without a photo, make a picture with the Image Generator first, for example an object on a white background. On the finished image, Turn into a 3D prop opens this dialog with the picture already in place.
Already have a 3D model? Upload a model, the second source in the dialog, converts a GLB, FBX, OBJ or other 3D file into a FiveM prop for free. See GLB to FiveM.
