Handling Editor

Change a car in handling.meta and see top speed, 0-100, quarter mile and a lap estimate before you restart the server.

What the Handling Editor does

The Handling Editor tunes the handling.meta of a GTA V car for your FiveM server. You change a value, and it tells you at once what the car will do: top speed, 0-100 km/h, quarter mile and a lap estimate.

The Handling Editor with the stock Sultan: the car and its fields on the left, the numbers and a replay of the full-throttle run on the right.
  • 44 GTA V cars are built in with their real handling values, from supercars to SUVs and two motorcycles.
  • Your own addon car works too: drop its handling.meta on the editor and pick the entry.
  • 29 fields in five tabs, each with one sentence on what it does and the range its class uses in the game.
  • A drag race over 1000 m against any built-in car, and two charts that show why the car is as fast as it is.

Without the editor, every change means editing the file, restarting and driving the car. With it, you restart once, when the numbers already look right.

What you get

  • Download resource (.zip)

A resource folder, for example sw_sultan_handling, with fxmanifest.lua, data/handling.meta and a README.txt. It goes straight into your resources.
  • Copy handling.meta

The handling.meta text on your clipboard, to paste into a resource you already have, such as your car pack.

The entry keeps the car's handlingName, so it replaces the original handling on your server. See Exporting.

What it costs

Nothing. The Handling Editor is free, needs no account and uses no credits.

  • It runs in your browser. A handling.meta you load is read on your computer and never uploaded.
  • The download is built on your computer as well.
  • It does not save your work. Download or copy your tune before you leave the page.

How far to trust the numbers

The numbers come from a model of the game's driving physics. It was checked against public in-game measurements:

  • Top speed, fully upgraded cars

    Vehicles:617
    Error:3.3 % on average, 80 % of cars within 3 %
  • Time over 1000 m, stock and upgraded

    Vehicles:155
    Error:0.5 s on average
  • Lap time

    Vehicles:482
    Error:about 2.0 s

The game has the final word

A prediction is not a measurement. Drive the car on your server before your players do, and compare its top speed with the editor. See How accurate the numbers are for what the model leaves out.
