Start

Your first tune

Give the stock Sultan more top speed and more grip, check the result against the stock car, and install it on your server.

Before you start

  • A browser on a computer. The editor also works on a phone, but the fields and the numbers then sit far apart.
  • Access to your FiveM server files and its server.cfg.
  • No account and no credits: the Handling Editor is free.

The eight steps

We take the stock Sultan and give it more top speed and more grip. It starts at 173 km/h and 5.88 s from 0 to 100 km/h.

  1. 1

    Open the Handling Editor

Open ai.swisser.dev/fivem-handling-editor. Signed in, you find it under All tools in the sidebar as Handling Editor. It opens on its own page, outside the workspace.

    1. 1. Handling Editor: opens the editor on its own page

The editor sits under the page title, in the box headed Handling Lab. A short tour opens on your first visit; Show tour brings it back.

  2. 2

    Pick the car

Under Vehicle, pick Sultan. It is also the car the editor starts with. The class, Sport, appears at the top right. Keep Stock selected.

    1. 1. Vehicle: pick one of the built-in cars
    2. 2. Drop your handling.meta here or click to upload: load your own file instead
    3. 3. Stock / Fully upgraded: the car without or with its upgrades

For an addon car, drop its handling.meta on the dashed box instead. See Your own handling.meta.

  3. 3

    Give the engine more push

The Engine tab is open. Click the value 0.260 next to Drive force, type 0.32 and press Enter. Do the same for Max flat velocity: 155. The slider works too, but typing gives exact values.

    1. 1. Engine: the group of fields
    2. 2. Drive force: type 0.32
    3. 3. Max flat velocity: type 155; this one needs a respawn

Each changed field shows stock 0.260 → 0.320 in green. Max flat velocity is marked needs respawn: in game it only applies to a car spawned after the change.

On the stock Sultan, Drive force goes from 0.26 to 0.32 in twelve steps of 0.005, with the arrow keys on its slider. After every step top speed, 0-100, quarter mile and lap estimate change and show the difference to stock, and the gauges show the new full-throttle run. Top speed ends 8 km/h higher, 0-100 almost a second quicker.
  4. 4

Lower the drag, raise the grip

Open Aero and set Drag coefficient from 8 to 7. Less drag is what lets the extra gearing turn into speed.

    1. 1. Aero
    2. 2. Drag coefficient: type 7

Open Grip. Set Grip, peak to 2.55 and Grip, sliding to 2.30. Sliding grip stays about 10 % under peak, so the car still warns you before it lets go.

    1. 1. Grip
    2. 2. Grip, peak: type 2.55
    3. 3. Grip, sliding: type 2.30, about 10 % under peak
  5. 5

    Read the numbers

The four numbers at the top right now show the tuned car, with the change against stock below each one:

    1. 1. Top speed: +20 km/h vs stock
    2. 2. Lap estimate: -5.53 s vs stock, from the extra grip and speed
    • Top speed

      Stock:173 km/h
      Tuned:193 km/h
    • 0-100 km/h

      Stock:5.88 s
      Tuned:4.71 s
    • Quarter mile

      Stock:14.35 s
      Tuned:13.10 s
    • Lap estimate

      Stock:1:09.812
      Tuned:1:04.285

Top speed and acceleration come from the engine and drag changes. The lap estimate gains from both: about 3 s from the engine and drag, the rest from the extra grip. What each number means is on Reading the numbers.

  6. 6

Race it against the stock car

Scroll to Drag race, 1000 m. Pick Sultan as the opponent and press Race. Opponents always drive with their original values, so this shows your gain directly: Your setup wins by 2.64 s (about 140 m).

    1. 1. Opponent: any built-in car, here the stock Sultan
    2. 2. Race
    3. 3. Your setup wins by 2.64 s (about 140 m): the gap at the line, in seconds and metres
  7. 7

    Download the resource

At the bottom of the fields column press Download resource (.zip). You get sw_sultan_handling.zip.

    1. 1. Download resource (.zip): a ready resource for your server
    2. 2. Copy handling.meta: only the file, to paste into your own
  8. 8

    Install it and drive it

Unzip it into your server's resources folder, so the folder sw_sultan_handling sits there. Add it to server.cfg:

    ensure sw_sultan_handling

Restart the server, join, and spawn a new Sultan: a car that already existed keeps its old handling. On a long straight the editor predicts about 193 km/h without upgrades; see how close your car gets. The details, and what to do for an addon car, are in Installing on your server.

Good to know

The race gap of 2.64 s is over 1000 m from a standstill. On a server the gap also depends on upgrades, traffic and the road, so drive both cars once to feel the difference.
