Exporting
Download a ready resource, or copy only the handling.meta and paste it into a file you already have.
Download the resource
The two export buttons sit at the bottom of the fields column of the Handling Editor. Download resource (.zip) saves a ready resource:
- 1. Download resource (.zip): a ready resource for your server
- 2. Copy handling.meta: only the file, to paste into your own
The quick-start run downloaded sw_sultan_handling.zip, 3 files in one folder:
sw_sultan_handling/fxmanifest.lua
sw_sultan_handling/data/handling.meta
sw_sultan_handling/README.txt- The folder name is
sw_, the car name in lower case with underscores, and_handling. For your own file it uses thehandlingName. - data/handling.meta holds one entry: the car you edited.
- README.txt repeats the three install steps.
The zip is built in your browser, so the download starts at once. Nothing is stored on our side.
The fxmanifest.lua
This is the manifest of the quick-start download, unchanged:
fx_version 'cerulean'
game 'gta5'
name 'sw_sultan_handling'
description 'Handling override for SULTAN. Made with the SwisserAI Handling Editor, ai.swisser.dev/fivem-handling-editor'
files { 'data/handling.meta' }
data_file 'HANDLING_FILE' 'data/handling.meta'
-- Changed fields: fInitialDriveForce, fInitialDriveMaxFlatVel, fInitialDragCoeff, fTractionCurveMax, fTractionCurveMin
-- Apply live via SET_VEHICLE_HANDLING_FLOAT: fInitialDriveForce, fInitialDragCoeff, fTractionCurveMax, fTractionCurveMin
-- Need a respawn of the vehicle: fInitialDriveMaxFlatVeldata_file 'HANDLING_FILE'tells FiveM to load the file as handling.filessends it to the players.- The three comment lines list your changed fields, those you can also set on a running car, and those that need a respawn (fInitialDriveMaxFlatVel, nInitialDriveGears, fMass).
What the handling entry contains
What goes into data/handling.meta depends on how you loaded the car:
Your own handling.meta
The whole original entry, every field, flag and SubHandlingData block, with only your edited values changed. The handlingName stays as it was.A built-in car
The 29 fields of the editor with your values, the car's handling flags, standard model and damage flags, and a plain CCarHandlingData block.
The start of the quick-start file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<CHandlingDataMgr>
<HandlingData>
<Item type="CHandlingData">
<handlingName>SULTAN</handlingName>
<fInitialDriveForce value="0.320000" />
<fInitialDriveMaxFlatVel value="155" />
<fDriveInertia value="1.000000" />
<fClutchChangeRateScaleUpShift value="1.800000" />
...Built-in cars: fields the editor does not show are left out
The export of a built-in car is not the full game entry. It leaves out 17 fields, among them the damage multipliers, fuel and oil volume, seat offsets, centre of mass and inertia. If you have the car's full entry, for example in a handling.meta your server already uses, load that file instead: then every other value stays as it was.
The two built-in motorcycles, Bati 801 and Sanchez, get the same car block. A bike entry needs its bike block, and one without it can crash the game when the bike spawns. For a bike, load the bike's own entry as a file.
For most built-in cars the handlingName is the car name in capitals, such as SULTAN, which is what the game uses. For these cars the game uses another name, and the export has to be changed before it can work:
Baller (Old)
In the export:BALLEROLDChange it to:BALLERBati 801
In the export:BATI801Change it to:BATIDeveste Eight
In the export:DEVESTEEIGHTChange it to:DEVESTEElegy RH8

In the export:SENTINELXSChange it to:SENTINELTaxi
In the export:TAXIChange it to:TAXI2
Open data/handling.meta in a text editor and replace the name between <handlingName> and </handlingName>.
Copy the handling.meta only
Copy handling.meta puts the same file on your clipboard and shows it in a window. Use it when the car already has a resource with a handling.meta, such as an addon car pack.
- 1. Close
- Paste the
<Item type="CHandlingData">block over the old entry with the same handlingName, or copy only the values you changed. - If your browser blocks the clipboard, select the text in the window and copy it by hand.
- Close, or a click next to the window, closes it.
Where to paste and how to restart is on Adding it to an existing resource.
