Prop Studio

Make a prop move in game: a door that swings, a gate that opens, a fan that spins. Or put a prop in the hands of a finished animation.

What Prop Studio does

Prop Studio makes props move in FiveM. You upload a 3D model, mark the parts that move, say where each one turns, and pick a motion. The studio renders a resource with the model and its animation, ready for your server.

Both leaves of the garden gate swing open around their hinges and close again, looping. This is the preview of the clip before it is rendered.
  • Doors, gates, lids and hatches that swing open and closed.
  • Fans, wheels and signs that spin, levers and pendulums that swing, drawers and pistons that slide.
  • Several moving parts in one prop, each with its own hinge, and several clips, such as open and close.

The studio runs in the browser and shows the motion live, so you see it before you pay. Prop Studio is marked Beta in the app: report anything odd and it gets fixed.

Two tools in this guide

This guide covers two tools that both end in a FiveM resource:

  • Prop Studio

What moves:The prop itself: a door swings, a fan spins.
You start from:A .glb model whose moving parts are separate meshes.
  • Prop Attach

What moves:A ped plays an animation and carries props on its bones: a cup in the hand, a bag on the back.
You start from:A finished animation from AI Animations or the Animation Builder.

Prop Attach does not change the animation. For making the animation itself, see the AI Animations guide.

What you download

A Prop Studio render is one zip with one FiveM resource, named after the prop. For the gate from the quick start:

  • stream/garden_gate.ydr

The model with one bone per moving part.
  • stream/garden_gate.ytd

    The textures of your model.
  • stream/garden_gate_anims.ycd

The animation: every clip you made, in one dictionary.
  • stream/garden_gate.ytyp

The archetype that tells the game this model has an animation.
  • fxmanifest.lua

The manifest. It already loads the archetype.
  • client.lua

A test command, /garden_gate, that spawns the prop and plays the first clip.

A Prop Attach build gives a resource with the unchanged animation and a script that attaches the props. See Installing on your server.

What it costs

  • Render an animated prop in Prop Studio

100, whatever the number of parts and clips
  • Build an animation with props in Prop Attach

500, for up to 4 props
  • Uploading, rigging, previewing and placing are free. You pay when you render or build.
  • A job that fails costs nothing. The credits are only held while it runs.
  • No subscription is needed; any credits work.

What it cannot do

  • It does not split models. Only parts that are separate meshes in your file can move. See Preparing your model.
  • No collision. The resource has no collision file, so players and cars pass through the prop.
  • No vehicles or peds. Prop Studio makes props. Vehicle doors and character animations are other tools.
  • No change to the ped animation. Prop Attach only adds props; the motion of the ped stays as it was.

Note

Test every new prop on a development server first: spawn it, play each clip, and watch it from a few sides.
