FAQ

Short answers to what people ask most about converting models.

General

Is it free?

Yes. Conversions cost no credits, on the free page and in Assets. Rebuilds after changes in the editor are free too.

Can it turn a model into clothing or EUP?

No. A converted model is a prop, an object that stands in the world or is attached to something. It does not fit onto the character like clothing. Uniforms are made with the EUP Maker.

Can it convert vehicles or characters?

It converts them into a prop: you can place a car model as a standing object, but it will not drive, and a character model will not move. Driveable vehicles and playable peds need a different setup.

I only have a photo, not a model.

Then use the 3D Generator. It makes a prop from a picture, in the same dialog.

Files

Can I get only a YDR?

Choose Single YDR packaging in Assets: textures and collision go inside the YDR. The YTYP comes along, because the game needs it to know the prop. See Packaging.

Do I need the YTYP?

Yes. It registers the model name and its size with the game. Without it the prop does not load.

Can I edit the files afterwards?

The zip includes the model as GLB for Blender and other tools. For size, rotation, parts and colours, the editor in Assets is quicker and rebuilds for free.

Can I convert several models at once?

One model per conversion. Convert them one by one, then combine them with Merge into one resource.

Rights and privacy

Can others see my uploads?

No. Conversions in Assets are only visible to you unless you share them with the community. Conversions on the free page are not linked to any account.

Can I convert models I bought or downloaded?

Only if the license allows use in a game or on a server. Check the license of the model before you put it on your server, and do not share models with the community that you are not allowed to pass on.
