Troubleshooting

Conversions fail for a handful of reasons, and the message on the job page names which one. Find it below.

The file is not accepted

GLB to FiveM checks the file before it uploads anything. Two messages can come up right away:

  • Unsupported file type

The file is not one of the accepted formats. Export the model as GLB, or pack it with its files into a ZIP.
  • File exceeds the 50 MB limit for .glb

Each format has a size limit, 50 or 100 MB. Reduce the texture sizes or the triangle count and export again.

On the free page the size message reads File too large. Maximum size is 100 MB., but a GLB is still limited to 50 MB there. The limits per format are on the overview.

ZIP errors

When something inside a ZIP is not allowed, the job fails and the job page names the file it stopped at:

  1. 1. Nested archives are not allowed: the reason, in plain text
  • Nested archives are not allowed: a ZIP, RAR or 7z inside the ZIP. Unpack it and zip the model files directly.
  • Blocked file type in archive: a Blender file or a program. Remove it and export the model as GLB.
  • No recognized 3D file found in archive: no model in a supported format inside.
  • Corrupt ZIP archive: the ZIP is damaged, or it is another archive type renamed to .zip.
  • Messages with exceeds cap of: more than 256 files, or more than 200 MB unpacked.

All rules are on ZIP bundles.

Wrong size

A model over 2,000 metres across or under 1 millimetre is refused with a message such as model is 7037.1 m across (maximum 2000.0 m); export in metres and retry. It was exported in the wrong unit. Export it again in metres with a unit scale of 1.

A model that is only somewhat too big or too small converts normally and shows up at that size in game. Check the size in the editor bar and fix it with Scale, then rebuild for free. See Rotate and scale.

No mesh or file cannot be read

  • FBX file contains no meshes Blender could import (with the format of your file): the file holds no geometry, for example only a camera, bones or an empty scene. Select the object itself when you export.
  • Blender could not import the uploaded FBX file: the file is damaged or from a version the importer cannot read. Open it in your 3D program and export it as GLB.
  • This file is not a valid GLB, or it was cut off during upload.: the file is damaged or not really a GLB. Export it again and upload the new file.

Textures are missing

When parts of the prop come out blank, grey or with the wrong texture, the textures were not in the uploaded file. The model was fine, its images stayed behind on your computer.

  • Upload a GLB, which always carries its textures.
  • For FBX, turn on embedded textures in the export.
  • For OBJ, zip the OBJ, its MTL and all images together.

When the conversion stops because of this, it says The model has no texture: GLB/FBX need it embedded. The details per format are in Textures inside the file.

Too many triangles

This model has too many triangles for a game prop. means the model stayed far above the budget even after the automatic reduction. Reduce it in your 3D program, in Blender with a Decimate modifier, and upload it again.

This model is too complex to convert means the model is made of so many loose pieces that it cannot be reduced. Join the pieces and merge them by distance, then export again.

The conversion took too long means the model or its textures are very heavy. Reduce the triangle count and the texture sizes, then upload it again.

Temporary failure

Temporary failure on our side. You were not charged, please try again in a little while. is shown when the conversion failed for a reason inside our pipeline. Start it again later.

If one file fails like this again and again while other files convert, export it again as a fresh GLB, or report it from the job page.

The prop does not show in game

  • Resource not started. The ensure line in server.cfg must match the folder name.
  • Files missing. Keep all files of the stream folder together, the YTYP included. Without the YTYP the game does not know the model.
  • Wrong name. Spawn the prop by the name you gave it, in lowercase with underscores.
  • Not reconnected. Restart the resource or the server, then reconnect.

The full install steps are in the 3D Generator guide: Using the prop on your server.

Still stuck

Use Report a problem at the bottom right of the job page, so we see the conversion you mean, or ask in the SwisserAI Discord. Say which file type you uploaded and what the message said.
