Placing it on the body
Body zones, the spots the game itself uses, dragging on the skin, exact size and angle, and one placement per ped.
Body zones
Every Tattoo Studio design belongs to one body zone, set under Body zone in Placement. The game draws the tattoo only on the skin of that zone, so a torso tattoo can never spill onto an arm:
Torso
Chest, stomach and back. The only zone for patches.Left arm
Upper arm, forearm and hand.Right arm
Upper arm, forearm and hand.Left leg
Thigh, shin and calf.Right leg
Thigh, shin and calf.Head
Face and neck.
Changing the zone moves the design to a starting spot on the new zone and clears the preset.
Spot presets
Spot preset lists the spots of the current zone. Each one is where the game's own tattoos of that spot sit, with its own size and position for the male and the female ped. There are 31:
Torso
Chest, fullChest, leftChest, rightChest, middleStomach, fullBack, fullBack, full (short)Back, upperBack, lowerTorso patch (badge)Rank badge (chest)Left arm
Left arm, full sleeveLeft arm, upperLeft arm, lowerLeft handRight arm
Right arm, full sleeveRight arm, upperRight arm, lowerRight handLeft leg
Left leg, full sleeveLeft leg, upperLeft leg, lowerLeft leg, calfRight leg
Right leg, full sleeveRight leg, upperRight leg, lowerRight leg, calfHead
Neck, frontNeck, leftNeck, rightFace
- 1. Body zone: which body part the tattoo belongs to
- 2. Spot preset: a spot the game itself uses
- 3. Place on the model: then click or drag on the skin
- 4. Across, Down, Width, Height, Rotate: fine position, size and angle
- 5. m/f separate: a preset gives each ped its own placement
- A preset is the fastest way to a spot that looks right on both peds. Start with one, then adjust.
- Moving a slider or placing by hand switches the preset back to Custom.
- A preset sets m/f separate, because its male and female spots differ; see Male and female ped.
Placing by hand
Press Place on the model. The button turns white and the preview switches to place mode: click or drag on the skin and the design follows.
- Clicks only count on the zone of the design. Clicking the arm does nothing to a chest tattoo.
- Press
Esc, Done placing at the top right of the preview, or the button again to leave place mode. - Outside place mode, drag to orbit the ped, scroll to zoom, and Spin at the bottom right turns it on its own.
Position, size and angle
The sliders under the button set the design exactly. Drag them, or type a value into the field on the right:
Across
Moves the design sideways on the zone.Down
Moves the design up or down on the zone.Width
Sets the width of the tattoo box.Height
Sets the height of the tattoo box.Rotate
Turns the design, from -180° to 180°.
The numbers are the position, size and rotation the game itself uses for tattoos, and the build writes them unchanged. What the preview shows is where the tattoo lands.
Good to know
The design is fitted into the box, so its shape stays. To make it bigger, raise Width and Height together.
Male and female ped
The male and the female freemode ped have different bodies, so every design is built twice, once per ped, each with its own placement. Male ped and Female ped at the top right switch the preview:
- 1. Female ped: shows and edits the female placement
- m/f linked (green): one placement for both peds. Every change applies to both.
- m/f separate: each ped keeps its own placement. The sliders change the ped that the preview shows.
- Clicking it links the two again; both then take the placement of the ped on screen.
Check both peds before you build. A spot that fits the male chest can sit too high or too wide on the female body.
Mirror and Ink
- Mirror flips the design left to right. The studio marks it as experimental until it is verified in game, like positions outside the skin area. Flip the image itself before the upload if you need to be sure.
- Ink fades the design in the preview only. The build always uses full ink. Some appearance scripts have their own opacity setting for a lighter look.
Placement is kept per entry while the page is open. Nothing is saved when you close it; see The studio does not save drafts.
A design that is too small or cut off in game is covered in Wrong spot or wrong size.
