Import
Importing from Sketchfab
Connect your Sketchfab account once, then any result imports with one click.
The Sketchfab dialog
A click on a Sketchfab result opens its dialog. At the top it names the model, the author and the licence, then shows the model in the Sketchfab viewer, which you can turn with the mouse. Below it:
- 1. License: check it before you import
- 2. Open on Sketchfab: the author and the model page
- 3. Connect Sketchfab: once per account
- Triangles, Vertices and License of the model. CC Attribution is CC-BY.
- Open on Sketchfab: the model page on sketchfab.com, with the full description, the author page and the licence. Copy this link for your credit.
- The button at the bottom right: Connect Sketchfab the first time, Import and convert after that.
Unlike the curated dialog, there is no size reference and no scale or rotation here. Check and fix the size after the import, on the asset page; see Fixing and rebuilding.
Connecting Sketchfab
Sketchfab hands out downloads only to a signed-in Sketchfab account. So the first import shows One-time Sketchfab connection and the button Connect Sketchfab. You need a free Sketchfab account for it.
- Press Connect Sketchfab. Sketchfab opens in the same tab and asks you to sign in and allow SwisserAI to download models for you.
- Approve it within ten minutes. Sketchfab then sends you back to the library page on ai.swisser.dev, and a message confirms the connection.
- Go back to the model. The page you land on is the public library page. Open Model library from the sidebar again, switch to Sketchfab, search and open the model: the button now says Import and convert.
The connection is stored with your SwisserAI account and renews itself, so this happens once. SwisserAI only downloads the models you import; nothing is liked, posted or uploaded on your Sketchfab account.
Name, usage and import
Once connected, the dialog asks for two things:
- Asset name: starts with the Sketchfab title, such as
Crates And Barrels. It becomes the file and model name, so change it to a short name in lowercase with underscores, such ascrates_barrels. - Usage: World prop, Placed around the map. Targets performance., or Hero object, Seen up close. Keeps more detail. It sets the triangle and texture budget of the conversion.
The footer says Free, no credits. Press Import and convert: a message says Import queued, conversion is running and the asset page of the new prop opens.
Note the credit now
For a BY or BY-SA model, copy the title, the author and the Open on Sketchfab link before you import. The finished prop does not show them, and the zip has no credit file. See How to credit.
What happens during the import
- Download: SwisserAI asks Sketchfab for the model in glTF format with your connection and stores it with your asset.
- Reduce: the model is brought down towards a budget of about 40,000 triangles as a World prop, or 60,000 as a Hero object, with lighter versions for distance. Textures are scaled to at most 1024 or 2048 pixels.
- Build: the FiveM files are made and checked. A prop that still has more than 80,000 triangles as a World prop (110,000 as a Hero object) after the reduction fails the check instead of shipping a prop that hurts the server.

Measured over all Sketchfab imports on SwisserAI from April to September 2026. Detailed models take longest. The page updates by itself; you can close it and come back.
About one import in twelve fails, most often because the model was exported in centimetres or another unit and ends up kilometres wide. A failed import costs nothing; see The import failed. The message then reads, for example, ASSET_SCALE_IMPLAUSIBLE: model is 4842.3 m across (maximum 2000.0 m); export in metres and retry.
