Start

Your first library prop

From a search for bench to a park bench on your server, in eight steps and about a minute.

Before you start

  • A SwisserAI account. No credits are needed.
  • A computer with a mouse; the import dialog needs a wide window.
  • Access to your FiveM server files and its server.cfg.

The eight steps

We import the park bench of the Kenney Holiday Kit, a free CC0 model with 160 triangles, make it the size of a real bench, and spawn it on the server as park_bench.

  1. 1

    Open the Model library

In the sidebar open All tools and click Model library. It opens on the Curated packs tab.

    1. 1. Model library: opens the library
  2. 3

    Open the bench

Click the Bench with the backrest. The Configure import dialog opens with the bench in the middle. On the right, Output bounds says 1.12 × 0.73 × 0.63 m: the size the prop would have in game.

    1. 1. Select: Rotate and Scale add handles in the view
    2. 2. Show size: puts a person next to the model
    3. 3. Import & convert: starts the conversion
  3. 4

    Compare it with a player

Press Show size at the bottom left. Michael, 1.88 m tall, appears next to the bench. He stands close to the camera, so turn the mouse wheel over the view to zoom out until you see both. A 1.12 m bench is too short for a park.

  4. 5

    Scale it to real size

Drag the Scale slider under Transform (optional) to ×1.30. The bench grows next to Michael, and Output bounds now says 1.46 × 0.95 × 0.82 m, the size of a real park bench.

Show size puts Michael, 1.88 m tall, next to the bench. At x1.00 the bench is 1.12 m long and 0.73 m high, too small for him. The scale slider goes up to x1.30 and the bench grows to 1.46 by 0.95 m, the size of a real park bench.
  5. 6

    Name it and import it

Under Project, type park_bench into Name; it becomes the model name you spawn in game. Keep World Prop. The button now reads Import with transform, because the scale is baked into the prop. Press it.

    1. 1. Scale: drag, or pick x0.5, x1 or x2
    2. 2. Rotation (°): degrees around X, Y and Z
    3. 3. Output bounds: the size in game, in metres
    4. 4. Import with transform: the scale is baked into the prop

The library takes you to your assets, where park_bench sits on top as a Library import. Ours was ready after about 5 seconds and cost 0 credits.

    1. 1. Library: shows only library imports
    2. 2. park_bench: the new prop, typed Library import; click it to open
  6. 7

    Download the resource

Click the card to open the asset page, check the size in the bar above the view, and press FiveM .zip.

    1. 1. 1.46 m × 95 cm × 82 cm: the size in game, with your scale
    1. 1. Animate: opens it in Prop Studio
    2. 2. Merge: joins it with other props
    3. 3. FiveM .zip: the resource
  7. 8

    Install it and spawn it

The zip has no outer folder. In your server's resources directory make a folder named park_bench, unzip the download into it, add one line to server.cfg and restart the server:

    ensure park_bench

The bench is now a prop like any GTA object. Spawn it with the script in Spawn it from a script, or place it in a map.

Good to know

The bench is CC0, so it needs no credit anywhere. A Sketchfab model under CC-BY or CC-BY-SA does; see How to credit.

Where to go from here

Have your own file? The library only imports its own models. For a GLB or FBX you made or bought, use GLB to FiveM, which is free as well.
