Licences and credit

Every model in the library may be used on a server, also commercially. Two of the three licences ask you to credit the author.

The three licences

Every model in the Asset Library is under one of three Creative Commons licences. All three let you use the model on a server, also a paid one, change it and pass it on. They differ in what you owe the author:

  • CC0 (public domain)

The import dialog shows the licence once more: under License for a curated model, and as License next to the triangle count for a Sketchfab model. What counts is the licence on the model page when you import.

CC0

CC0 means the author gave up every right: use, change, sell and share the model without asking and without a credit. All 1,938 curated Kenney models are CC0, and so are the Sketchfab results with the CC0 badge.

A credit to Kenney is a kind gesture, not a duty.

CC-BY

CC-BY, shown as BY and CC Attribution, allows everything CC0 does, on one condition: you credit the author, link the licence, and say that you changed the model. A conversion to FiveM is a change.

CC-BY-SA

CC-BY-SA, shown as BY-SA, asks for the same credit as CC-BY. On top, share alike: if you pass on a changed version of the model, for example in a resource you publish or sell, that version must be under CC-BY-SA as well. Your own scripts in the same resource are not affected; the rule covers the model.

How to credit

A good credit names the title, the author, the source and the licence, and says what you changed. For the first result of our Sketchfab search it looks like this:

The resource has no credit file

The Sketchfab import dialog says the credit line is written into the resource for you. At the moment it is not: the zip contains the model files and the manifest, no credit (checked on September 30, 2026). The asset page does not show the author either.

So before you import, note the title and author from the dialog, and copy the link from Open on Sketchfab. Put the credit into a CREDITS.txt in the resource folder, and on your store or server page.

Selling and escrow

  • CC0 and CC-BY models may go into resources you sell, for example on Tebex. With CC-BY, the credit has to travel with it: put it in the resource and on the store page.
  • CC-BY-SA models may be sold too, but the model stays CC-BY-SA: whoever gets it may share it again on the same terms. FiveM asset escrow does not change the licence. If that matters for your product, pick a CC0 or CC-BY model.
  • No other licences. The library never shows CC-BY-NC, CC-BY-ND or Sketchfab store licences. A model you download from Sketchfab yourself and bring through GLB to FiveM keeps whatever licence it has.
