Make your ped
Fit and size
How tall your ped stands, where its hips sit for seats and cars, how it meets the ground, and how to fix a model that came in turned.
Height
The Ped Creator keeps the height your file says, as long as it lies between 0.8 and 3 m. Anything outside starts at 1.80 m, the height of a vanilla ped.
- 1. Keep the model’s height: off to set your own height
- 2. Fit to game proportions: hips in line with seats and cars
- 3. Ground offset: -30 to +30 cm in every animation
- 4. Turn / Tilt / Lean: only if the model came in turned
Keep the model's height
Default:OnRange:On or offWhat it does:Uses the height of your file. The line under it shows that height, for example Your file says 1.74 m.Target height
Default:Starts at the height of your fileRange:0.50 m to 3.50 m, in steps of 0.01What it does:Scales the model to this height. Drag the slider or type the value.
- Turn off Keep the model's height when your file has the wrong scale. A Mixamo character in our tests arrived at 2.51 m; setting 1.80 m fixed it.
- A model made from a picture has no real size of its own. It starts at 1.80 m for Body type Male and 1.70 m for Female.
- From 2.10 m the larger ragdoll is used on Auto.
- Changing the height clears the joint corrections of the Skeleton step.
Check the result with View set to Vs. vanilla: it shows your ped next to a GTA body, with both heights.
Fit to game proportions
Fit to game proportions makes the legs longer or shorter, so the hips of the Ped Creator ped sit where GTA expects them. It is off by default.
GTA places a ped on seats and in cars by its hips. A character with short legs therefore sits too low and sinks into the seat. With the switch on, the legs are stretched between ankle and hip until the hips line up, and the feet stay on the ground. The height of the ped changes with it.
- In our tests a 1.62 m character sat 6 cm too low in a car and 9 cm too low on a chair. With the switch on, it grew to 1.71 m and both came within 2 cm of a vanilla ped.
- A character whose hips sit higher than a GTA ped's gets shorter legs instead.
- The legs change by 0.8 to 1.3 times at most. At that limit, a warning says how far the hips are still off.
- After a preview the line under the switch shows what happened, for example “Last preview: legs x1.06, +9 cm.”
- Joint corrections stay.
Skirts and robes
Turn on Loose clothing in Skin weights first. On a skirt model in our tests, game proportions hid a hip joint that loose clothing put right.
Ground offset
Ground offset moves the Ped Creator ped up or down in every animation, sitting included. The range is -30 to +30 cm in steps of 0.5 cm; the default is None.
The Ped Creator stands the lowest point of your model on the ground. That is right for almost every model, high heels included: the skeleton is fitted to the model with its shoes on.
It goes wrong when something reaches below the feet: a floor-length robe, a cape, a tail or a base. Then the feet float. After a preview the step measures this and offers a fix:
- A box says, for example, “Parts of the model reach 6.0 cm below the feet, so without an offset the feet float in game.” Press its button, here Use -6 cm, then update the preview.
- When the feet float more than 3 cm, WATCH FOR also warns:
The feet float 6 cm above the ground in game.
Use a positive value only to lift a ped on purpose, for example one that hovers. With Fit to game proportions on, the hips end up that far above or below their usual spot. Joint corrections stay.
Turn, tilt and lean
The Ped Creator stands your model up and turns it to face forward on its own. Only touch these sliders if the preview still looks turned or tilted.
Turn
Range:-180° to 180°Turns the model:Around the vertical axis. 180 turns a ped that faces backwards.Tilt forward / back
Range:-45° to 45°Turns the model:Forward or backward.Lean left / right
Range:-45° to 45°Turns the model:Towards the left or the right side.
All three start at 0° and turn the model after the automatic orientation. Each change clears the joint corrections. Check the result in the Source view, which shows the model before rigging.
Settings that clear joint corrections
Joint corrections in the Ped Creator are placed on the model as it stands after Fit & size. Moving the model clears them, and the step says so in a note at the bottom.

Kept
So set height and orientation first, then move joints. If old corrections still reach our servers after a change, the editor clears them. It then runs the preview again for free; see Your joint corrections no longer fit.
