Make your weapon
Name, stats and first person
The name becomes the weapon name your server uses. Fire mode, magazine, damage and range are optional, and first person has its own fine-tuning.
The name and the weapon name
In step 6, Identity & stats, type the name players see into Name in the weapon wheel. The studio derives every technical name from it:
- 1. Name in the weapon wheel: what players see
- 2. Weapon name, Model, Slot: derived from the name
- 3. Like the base / Single shot / Full auto: fire mode
- 4. Magazine, Damage, Range (m): empty fields keep the base values
Weapon name
Value:WEAPON_SANDSTORMRIFLEUsed for:Scripts, inventories and GiveWeaponToPed.Model
Value:w_ar_sandstormrifleUsed for:The model file. The prefix comes from the base, w_ar for a rifle.Slot
Value:SLOT_SANDSTORMRIFLEUsed for:The place in the weapon wheel.Resource
Value:weapon_sandstormrifleUsed for:The folder and the ensure line.
The name must follow these rules; the studio shows the problem under the field as you type:
- 2 to 24 characters, with at least one letter.
- Letters, digits, spaces and
. ' -, starting with a letter or digit. No umlauts or symbols.
To rename a weapon, change the name and build again. That makes a new weapon with new names, at the full price.
Names that already exist
The name is checked live against every weapon, model and slot in the game. A name that exists is refused, because your weapon would then replace the vanilla one instead of standing next to it:
- 1. exists in the game: pick another name
Pick another name. Replacing a vanilla weapon is not possible with the Weapon Studio.
Fire mode
- Like the base: rifle and SMG bases fire full auto, pistols and the sniper one shot per click.
- Single shot: one shot per click, whatever the base.
- Full auto: keeps firing while the button is held.
Melee bases have no fire mode and no stats.
Magazine, damage and range
Magazine, Damage and Range (m) are optional numbers. An empty field keeps the value of the base; the Magazine field shows it, for example base: 30.
The ammo type always stays the one of the base, so the Sandstorm Rifle uses AMMO_RIFLE and your existing ammo items work for it.
First person
In first person the game holds the weapon at a fixed spot in front of the camera. Step 5, First person, shows that aim view. The dot is your aim point.
- 1. Aim point: line the sights up with the dot
During the build, the studio measures how high your sights sit compared to the base and presets the shift. The four sliders fine-tune it; the view is an approximation, so test aiming in game after the first build.
- 1. Up / down, Forward / back, Left / right, Tilt: fine-tune the aim view
- 2. First-person model: built automatically for firearms
- Up / down, Forward / back and Left / right move the weapon in the aim view; Tilt turns it.
- HD model: firearms get a second, sharper model for first person, built automatically with a 80k triangle budget. Without it a weapon can vanish from your hands in first person. Melee weapons have none.
